“Living with Badri and the family has been amazing. Dipa (Badri’s wife) runs the house and is a true delight, so kind and caring – not to mention hard working. Dibash (age 11) is a great kid and when not playing football/cricket has been a great link and helped with the language barrier. Dibsana (age 7) is possibly the sweetest thing alive and a joy to be around. The location and local people are fantastic (so friendly and welcoming) and the view from the house including fields and mountains is gorgeous. The house is around a 15 minute (15 rupee) bus ride or 45 minute walk from Thamel so is pretty accessible. There are shops and a good internet café (cheap Skype calling to home) within 3 minutes walk as well as intermittent wi-fi in the house.
The whole experience was a pleasure and a phenomenal insight into real Nepali life and culture. I’ll never forget my time there!”
