About
Introduction of the Organization
HOMES-Nepal, established in 2007, is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization which is founded by a diverse group drawn from development workers, educationalists, social activists and other professionals. Since its establishment, it has been working in community services focused on community health and hygiene. Unlike many other development NGOs, HOMES-Nepal serves to directly put efforts for change in the hands of local people. It actively encourages people to volunteer within their communities, aiming to unite all sectors of society in working together to set up and run local projects especially the awareness and service related issues.
HOMES-Nepal has a board of advisors and a board of directors. It also works in partnership with like-minded national and international governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Project Descriptions
Sindhupalchowk District is a part of Bagmati province and one of the seventy-five districts of Nepal, with an area of 2,542 km2 (981 sq mi). People depend entirely on agriculture for their survival. Since the district is hilly, the land is not very fertile land, and the yield is very low. So, the lifestyle of people is not easy.
Sindhupalchowk is one of the worst-affected districts as a result of the earthquake that took place on 2015. More than 4000 people were killed and many injured. More than 80000 thousand houses are severely damaged and many schools.
Due to the global pandemic COVID-19, the people of this area also become vulnerable and their economic status is being decreased. Most of the months of the year, the school remained closed. Health conditions of the people decreased and now they are trying to restore the normal condition
The project area Lisankhu/Nargau belongs to the Lisankhu Pakhar Rural Municipality of Sindhupalchowk where most of the people are Tamang which is one of the ethnic groups of Nepal. Almost all houses were damaged by the earthquake of 2015 and not properly reconstructed until to-day due to poverty. Due to the poverty, the children are suffering from malnutrition and the school enrollment rate is less. Drop out of kids also affecting the education of this area and most of the kids started the job/labour work in cities or in the construction or transport sector. To protect the kid’s rights and raising the educational level, HOMES Nepal has been supporting in different need based areas with the help of Juerg Lichtenegger and Utikon Kids Association. There are more than 90 kids in the kindergarten, and studying with minimum facilities. So, HOMES Nepal decided to support by providing Kindergarten play station, class room materials, and now dream comes true due to the help of the our precious donor Juerg Lichtenegger, Switzerland.
