Human Resource Development for the institutionalization of HIV and AIDS issue

ACTIVITIES

Selection of the Trainee

20 youth trainees (11F, 9M) ages from 18-26 years were selected including the HOMES-Staffs for the TOT trainings. The main objectives of the TOT training was to “prepare the human resources in the issues of HIV and AIDs and other cross cutting issues and able to plan and execute the sessions on HIV and AIDS targeting adolescents in the Secondary and Higher Secondary level school”.

TOT Training

Six days TOT training was conducted to prepare the human resources in different sessions. The training was conducted from 7-12 August, 2016 by hiring the consultants. The training was inaugurated by the Nepal Government’s Secretary Mr. Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, he was Joint Secretary of Health Ministry before. He was emphasized the importance of adolescences education on HIV and AIDS, and the program will give great positive message to themselves and transferring the knowledge to the community as well. The Chairperson of the HOMES-Nepal Mr. Badri Paudel also emphasized the necessities of the HIV and AIDS education in secondary level students and knowledge transfer to the respective families/communities. There were 14 sessions in the TOT trainings (Annex II), and deliberated by the different expert consultant on the respective topics/sessions. The highlighting issues of incorporation of HIV and AIDS in the curriculum of the Secondary level education system, the Curriculum Expert form the Government’s Curriculum Development Center (CDC), Mr. Hem Raj Khatiwada had conducted the Session and reviewed and analyzed and the current curriculum of Secondary level and committed the incorporation of lacking issues HIV and AIDS in upcoming curriculum revision. With the presence of AHF Nepal Country Program Manager Mr. Deepak Dhungel, the closing ceremony was held and distributed the certificate of Achievement.

Selection of the Targeted School

20 Community Schools (Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools) of Bhaktapur district were selected and selected 20 trained human resources to the respective schools to deliver the HIV and AIDS issues.
